Consumer patriotism is when individuals prefer domestically produced goods and services over foreign ones. For the same item, if you buy products from a domestic producer rather than imported products, you are a patriot. This concept is similar to nationalism and in marketing, with the idea of consumer ethnocentrism.

If many people follow what you do, preferring domestic goods, it will have a significant impact on the economy. Local producers will be encouraged to increase output, invest more in capital goods, and recruit more workers. As a result, it fosters domestic economic activities.

However, indeed, not all individuals are willing to do it. Not all domestic products are cheaper or higher quality. Rationality often encourages you to buy imported products that are cheaper and more quality than local products.
